The Kellerberrin Local Health Advisory Group (LHAG) has received the Shire of Kellerberrin Community Event of the Year award 2015 for its popular ‘Ladies Day Out’ event.

Over 145 ladies attended the sell-out event, now in its fourth year, which promotes and encourages women’s health and wellbeing as well as women networking with women.

Established in 2006, the eight community members who make up the Kellerberrin Local Health Advisory Group have a strong interest in the provision of quality health services and in addressing health related matters relevant to their rural community.

Chairperson Lynne White describes their role as being, “the eyes, ears and voice of the community in all health related matters.”

The Shire award is recognition of the group’s outstanding efforts to create the women specific event after noting there were a number of events focusing on the wellbeing of men but similar events for women were few and far between.

Over the years the Kellerberrin LHAG’s Ladies Day Out has grown in strength and momentum.  Women of the Wheatbelt have been treated to a number of inspiring guest speakers covering a range of topics including health, women achieving in today’s world and personal stories.

The women are also treated to lunch and have the opportunity to view a variety of stalls promoting rural crafts and products.

Theresa Beech, Health Service Manager/Director of Nursing at Kellerberrin Memorial Health Service congratulated the Local Health Advisory Group on its success.

“The Kellerberrin Local Health Advisory Group is a group of dedicated volunteers who contribute to a number of important health forums and are an extremely valuable partner in the delivery of healthcare to the local community.”
