Completed project - Albany Health Campus radiation oncology

Cancer patients in the Great Southern will soon be able to access radiation oncology services close to home at the Albany Health Campus.

Completed project - Albany Health Campus radiation oncology

Project overview

The $13.1 million investment will see a new specialised bunker, known as a Linac Suite, located at the health campus. This suite will deliver radiation oncology services using high energy x-rays which destroy cancer cells while sparing the surrounding tissue.

Forward works, expected to commence in December include:

  • improvements to parking and vehicle access with an additional 67 bays to be established
  • ensuring the site is able to safely house the radiotherapy equipment and can protect patients, visitors and staff from potential exposure to radiation.

The new service is expected to be operational in the second half of 2022.
