The Carnarvon Health Campus brings key health services together under the same roof as the hospital to create a modern, purpose-built health care hub.

It includes:

  • a four-chair renal dialysis service
  • outpatient facilities
  • community mental health and child health services in one location on the campus for ease of access
  • a two-chair dental health clinic
  • expanded Telehealth services
  • upgraded IT infrastructure
  • dedicated treatment areas including physiotherapy gym and consulting rooms for increased access to visiting specialists and practitioners.
  • improved access and parking facilities

The redevelopment was funded through the State Government’s Royalties for Regions Gascoyne Revitalisation Plan. Redevelopments in Exmouth and Carnarvon totalled $34.9 million.

Background

In 2010, extensive planning occurred to identify the health care needs for the Gascoyne Health District. It took into account the expected growth in Carnarvon and surrounding areas and included extensive community consultation.

Stage 1 of the Carnarvon Health Campus redevelopment was completed in 2008. It included a dedicated maternity area, a palliative care suite and upgrades to meet fire and cyclone standards. In 2010 a CT scanner was also installed.

The redevelopment was officially opened by Health Minister John Day in August 2016.
