Completed project - Esperance Health Campus

The $31.3 million Esperance Health Campus redevelopment offers top quality care closer to home for the people of Esperance and South East coastal areas.

New and expanded emergency department

Esperance residents are benefiting from a new and expanded emergency department.

Services include:

  • triple the number of treatment areas - from four to 12
  • two state-of-the-art resuscitation bays for patients needing the highest level of care, with VC and Telehealth links
  • acute mental health assessment room
  • emergency decontamination showers
  • an isolation room
  • five monitored treatment bays
  • two private consulting rooms
  • one procedure room
  • a brand new main entrance including a covered patient set-down area with adjacent parking
  • larger waiting room with outdoor courtyard and adjacent patient amenities and parenting room

Expanded surgical services: ED and day surgery

A huge expansion of surgical services, including a brand new day surgery unit, enable care closer to home for the South East coastal community.

More patients are able to be treated in Esperance by local doctors and visiting specialists.  Facilities include:

  • brand new operating theatre
  • upgrade to the existing theatre
  • brand new day surgery unit
  • eight recovery bays, allowing patients to recover closer to the theatres rather than being transferred to inpatient beds
  • discharge lounge with four chairs
  • separate entrance with adjacent set-down and parking
  • private waiting area
  • dedicated rooms for clinical consultation and pre-admission

Improved maternity services

The new facility makes it more convenient for mothers to stay in Esperance to have their babies.

The new maternity service includes:

  • two brand new, state-of-the-art labour delivery rooms, both with a private ensuite and one with access to a private courtyard.
  • four single private rooms each with an ensuite and baby bathing facilities
  • a specialised nursery
  • consultation and examination room
