The refurbished facility brings key health services together under the same roof as the hospital to create a modern, purpose-built health care hub.

Works included:

  • new outpatientfacilities including a new hospital entry, reception, triage and waiting area
  • refurbished space for new medical imaging equipment, expanded communications room, a fourth dedicated General Practitioner consulting room and medical records room
  • new treatment areas for improved access to visiting specialists and practitioners.
  • programs such as community mental health, social work and child health services in one location for ease of access.
  • comfortable, modern and purpose-built two-chair dental facility
  • new Telehealth equipment, including video conference interview room,to provide the local community with access to specialists
  • relocation of the ambulance bay for improved privacy and weather screening
  • a new training/group meeting room for staff

The redevelopment of Exmouth Health Service was part of the State Government’s Royalties for Regions’ Gascoyne Revitalisation Plan. The State Government invested $34.9 million in the redevelopment of Exmouth Health Service and Carnarvon Health Campus.

Background

Planning for the new Exmouth Health Service included consultation with medical professionals and the community. It also took into account the expected growth of Exmouth over the next decade, along with the community’s expectation that more services should be available closer to home.

In 2009, Exmouth Hospital became a Multi-purpose Service (MPS), enabling the provision of additional much-needed services to the community, in addition to top quality hospital care and treatment.

In 2015, the facility was renamed Exmouth Health Service. It now brings key health services together under the same roof as the hospital to create a modern, purpose-built health care hub

The refurbished facility provides an emergency department, six inpatient beds and three residential aged care beds.
