Modern aged and palliative care facility on track for Carnarvon
A brand new $18.8 million residential aged and palliative care facility for Carnarvon is a step closer with local Midwest business Crothers Construction Pty Ltd awarded the tender, enabling residents to occupy the facility in early 2022.
The 38-bed purpose-built facility will support approximately 150 local jobs during construction.
The modern building will be co-located at the Carnarvon Health Campus and will enable the integration with other health services.
Works include the construction of flexible spaces to cater for varying resident needs such as accommodation for couples and family members and will ensure local people feel at home while accessing culturally appropriate care in their local community.
The new build will also feature a dedicated main entrance and facilitate improved access to Telehealth initiatives that will support contemporary models of care.
WA Country Health Service Regional Director Jeff Calver said the new facility will ensure that the elderly and those reaching end-of-life can receive world-class care while remaining close to their loved ones.
“Current residents will be able to remain at the existing facility throughout the construction and will be transitioned to the new facility when complete,” he said.
Works are set to commence next month with the facility expected to achieve practical completion in late 2021.
