Second phase of forward works set to commence at Geraldton Health Campus
The second phase of the forward works at the Geraldton Health Campus is set to commence on Thursday 24 September.
Works include:
• reconfigured main entry
• new carpark and drop-off bay at the main entry
• new ambulance entry into the Emergency Department.
There will be no pedestrian or vehicle access from Shenton Street through to Milford Street to facilitate the works.
Patients and visitors can continue to access parking on site via the Shenton Street entry. The Midwest Cancer Centre and Breastscreen WA van can only be accessed via the Milford Street entry.
WA Country Health Service Regional Director Jeff Calver said the second phase was expected to be completed in January 2021.
“We thank all patients, visitors and staff for their continued cooperation while the redevelopment of the Geraldton Health Campus progresses,” Mr Calver said.
“I am also pleased to report that while ADCO Constructions Pty Ltd initially tendered for a 60 per cent commitment to regional content, to date, they’ve achieved 64 per cent, with more local contractors to be engaged for the duration of the project.
“This is great news for all our local contractors.”
Since the works commenced in July, more than 33,000 cubic metres of sand have been removed from the site with 1,500 truck movements, with more than 500 truck movements bringing material in.
The forward works are being delivered by ADCO Constructions in preparation for the main redevelopment worth $73.3 million, with operations expected to commence in 2023. The full suite of forward works include an ambulance entry on Shenton Street, reconfiguration of the main entry to the health campus, a new carpark close to the main entry, and a southern carpark and access road from Onslow Street.
