Change to emergency department location at Northam Health Service
The redevelopment of the $42 million Northam Health Service is progressing well and the refurbishment of the emergency department is now complete.
From 10 am on Wednesday 6 February 2019, visitors to the Health Service will access emergency services via the new public entrance to the emergency department which is located on Robinson St, in Northam.
WA Country Health Service Wheatbelt Regional Director Sean Conlan said visitors to the emergency department should experience a seamless transition to the outstanding new facilities with the planned relocation of services to the new area in advance of the opening.
“We thank the local community in advance for their patience and understanding as we transition to our improved emergency department,” Mr Conlan said.
Signage will be in place at the hospital to direct people to the new emergency department and patient set down area.
The WA Country Health Service is currently overseeing the biggest transformation of country hospitals and health facilities in more than a generation.
This $1.5 billion building program is the most ambitious ever undertaken in regional WA and includes more than 80 sites from Kununurra in the Kimberley to Albany in the Great Southern.
Along with new bricks and mortar comes the installation of state-of-the-art information and communications technology, including telehealth links and videoconferencing to facilitate services such as emergency telehealth and more options for access to specialists.
There is an opportunity for interested community members to tour the new facility prior between 3.30pm and 5.30pm on Monday 4 February.
