Carnarvon equipped with the latest CT scanning technology
The WA Country Health Service (WACHS) has installed a brand new, high quality Computed Tomography (TC) scanner at Carnarvon Health Campus.
The new Siemens Healthcare CT scanner forms part of a broader $2 million investment upgrading diagnostic equipment across various sites including Narrogin and Esperance.
The new technology offers faster scanning, ultra-low dosage, and consistent high-quality imaging.
A key feature is the use of mobile technology to allow the clinician or imaging technologist to be at the patient’s side and talk them through the process during set-up, rather than from the booth, improving patient comfort and wellbeing.
This also enables the treating clinician to make real time evaluations and adjustments – improving the results of the scan and ensuring a more accurate diagnosis.
WACHS Midwest Regional Director Rachele Ferrari said the new scanner was another example of the health service putting the patient experience first.
“The new scanners are faster than the older models, reducing both wait times and scan times significantly,” Ms Ferrari said.
“We know that patient comfort and satisfaction go a long way to improving the overall healthcare experience and this new CT scanner is another way we can provide a smoother journey for our patients.”
The new scanner at Esperance Health Campus has completed 493 CT scans since the end of September, while the machine at Narrogin Health Campus – installed and operational in mid-October – has completed more than 300 scans in a little over six weeks.
