Derby Community Health Service building reaches practical completion
WA Country Health Service (WACHS) has added an impressive new facility to the fold, with Derby’s brand new $3.7 million community health service building reaching practical completion.
The modern, fit-for-purpose building includes two consult rooms, an immunisation clinic, a child health clinic and a multipurpose training and therapy room providing ample space for a range of specialist services and programs to be delivered on site.
The new facility allows for community and child health services to be housed in in one multi-purpose location.
WACHS Kimberley Regional Director Bec Smith said the facility was designed with the patient front-of-mind.
“By having community and child health services under one roof, it becomes a bit of a one stop shop for residents,” Ms Smith said.
“Our clinicians now have access to a modern clinical space and have the resources they need to support local families.”
In the coming months, a range of culturally welcoming artworks created by local artists will be installed, with each piece being chosen by the community.
Construction on the project involved Kimberley-based sub-contractors, creating more than 50 local jobs in the process.
The Derby Community Health Service building has already started welcoming patients ahead of an official opening next year.
