Important COVID update

It’s Dr Helen Van Gessel here, the WA Country Health Service’s Principal Health Officer. 

I know many of you are feeling nervous about the positive COVID case in Perth so I wanted to talk to you directly. 

Our expert contact tracing teams are working quickly and have already identified and isolated lots of contacts – which is a good thing because it will help us stop the spread.

As the Premier said, it’s likely we will see some additional cases. Some of these may even be in country WA. 

That’s why you must get tested immediately if you are symptomatic – that is, a sore throat, cough, fever or shortness of breath.

You must also stay at home and away from others until you return a negative test result.

As you can imagine, our teams are very busy and we ask that you’re patient and exercise kindness toward our staff. They’re doing everything they can to keep us all safe from COVID.
