Important update to COVID-19 measures
As COVID cases decrease across Western Australia (WA), the System Alert and Response (SAR) level will move to a new “Blue” alert level from 15 August 2022.
All country hospitals and health services will adopt the new guidelines, which will provide the community with more access to see loved ones.
WA Country Health Service (WACHS) Principal Health Officer Dr Helen Van Gessel said the move was a timely response to decreasing numbers of COVID cases across Western Australia.
“We still need to do all we can to keep staff and patients safe from COVID. Visitors are still required to be vaccinated and wear a mask when they come to our facilities, as will all of our staff.
“We will be improving our Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) testing protocols. We will ask visitors to high risk patients, including aged care, to test themselves before their visit. For patients, we will focus on RAT testing those who are either symptomatic or close contacts and encouraging self-testing where this is possible.
“This transition will take some time so please be patient with our sites as they work to implement these changes. RATs are available free throughout the state, at locations listed online.
“I would again extend my thanks to all staff, patients and visitors for their ongoing care and support of country communities and our COVID-19 response.”
