WACHS to join in at Dowerin Field Days
Staff from the WA Country Health Service Wheatbelt Nursing and Midwifery team will be on hand at Dowerin Field Day - answering questions and educating locals on healthcare access in the region.
Acting Regional Director of Nursing and Midwifery Basil Paulose said the Wheatbelt team were excited to return to the event in 2022 and engage with the community.
"Last year we held a very successful vaccination drive here and we wanted to return again, this year showcasing the services available to our Wheatbelt communities," he said.
"There's been lots happening in the health space and we know people have questions around COVID, possible variants and things like Monkeypox - signs and symptoms - so this is an opportunity for us to address some of that head on.
"We're also taking this opportunity to chat to locals on local health services and hear their feedback and thoughts for the future."
Among the specialty services available in the Wheatbelt, WACHS has recently established the Northam Haematology Service for cancer patients and completed a $46.1 million upgrade of Northam Hospital.
The Dowerin Field Days is an annual event held on the last Wednesday and Thursday of August to showcase the latest development in rural lifestyles.
