Telehealth keeps Ray well and at home
WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is helping country patients have continuity of care regardless of their location by harnessing telehealth technologies.
When COVID-19 thrust Australia into uncertainty, Kalgoorlie resident Ray Keane was able to remain confident his pulmonary (lung) rehabilitation goals could be maintained thanks to telehealth.
To mark Telehealth Awareness Week (24-28 October) WACHS is shining a spotlight on how digital technology is positively impacting country communities.
By connecting Ray to a range of allied health outpatient services at the click of a button, Ray was able to stay well and at home throughout the pandemic while maintaining his rehabilitation goals.
Telehealth and virtual care have changed the healthcare landscape in country WA, allowing frontline clinicians to be supported to provide high quality care to patients.
Throughout the pandemic, telehealth had become an invaluable tool for the region’s clinicians and the delivery of care to their patients.
The advancing telehealth technologies allows WACHS staff to be supported in delivering life changing care for people like Ray, reducing their need for unnecessary travel and increasing positive patient outcomes.
Appointments by telehealth are available for a wide range of outpatient services at many country locations including hospitals, health centres, Community Resource Centres and telehealth-enabled GP surgeries.
To find out more about telehealth ask your specialist, GP, health professional or visit the WACHS website.
