Kimberley podiatrist puts her best foot forward in rural awards
Congratulations to Kimberley podiatrist Sarah Tomlinson, WA Rural Health Excellence Awards finalist and record maker at WA Country Health Service (WACHS).
In 2021 Sarah made the move to the Kimberley as part of the Kimberley Foot Initiative, making her the first WACHS podiatrist to be based in the region in 14-years.
Since then, she has successfully established the first Interdisciplinary High-Risk Foot Clinic for the Kimberley, based out of Broome Hospital.
As well as hosting outreach clinics in Derby and Fitzroy Crossing, she offers virtual clinical support for her fellow health professionals in the East and West Kimberley.
Her achievements have seen her be named a finalist in the awards Rural Allied Health Professional of the Year category.
Sarah has also developed a strong passion for hands-on education for regional and remote clinical staff in various areas of podiatry and is involved in the teaching of junior doctors.
She continues her education through presentations at forums across Australia and sits as the Kimberley representative on the WA Diabetes Health Network High-Risk Foot working group.
WACHS is proud to celebrate Sarah and her fellow health professionals in this year’s awards, where winners will be announced at a ceremony next month.
