Play time donation a boon for Kalgoorlie childrens ward
Fun has been put back into focus at the Kalgoorlie Health Campus children’s ward, thanks to a generous donation of games, puzzles and books.
The abundant donation was made by the Hannan’s Goldfields Lions Club earlier this year to help young patients stave off boredom and find comfort as they access treatment.
Goldfields Regional Director Peter Tredinnick said staff and patients were enormously grateful for the ongoing support of the Goldfields community.
“We know that play is incredibly important, so expanding the options available will benefit the children in our care,” he said.
“Play creates a positive experience for children and their families by reducing their stress and creating a sense of calm and control.
“It also makes it easier for our staff to connect with children, so we can help them to understand what’s happening while they’re in hospital.”
While we hope you’ll never need to see them, the ward’s brand-new range includes toys, books and puzzles suitable for all age groups.
