Advice accurate as at 12pm
WA Country Health Service has enacted cyclone response plans at Broome and Hedland Health Campuses.
A spokesperson for the organisation said both sites had adequate provisions, including medical, pharmaceutical, food and water.
“Given both hospitals are located within one of the most severe cyclonic wind regions in the country, we’re well prepared and working hard to keep patients and staff safe,” they said.
“Both Broome and Hedland Health Campuses remain fully operational, however we have moved to relocate some high-risk patients from smaller health services such as Marble Bar and Nullagine as a precautionary measure.”
The spokesperson said it was important community closely monitored the situation via emergency.wa.gov.au.
“If you have a pre-existing medical condition, it’s really important your cyclone response plan includes enough medication and back-up equipment,” they said.
If you are sick during a cyclone, call health direct or 000 in case of emergency.
