Dongara Health Centre redevelopment completed
After reaching practical completion on 4 May, Dongara Health Centre has gone through final commissioning and is now officially open for business.
The $9.86 million redevelopment has seen significant upgrades to the emergency department and residential aged care facility and now features world-class telehealth technology to further support the delivery of care close to home.
Other improvements include an expanded ambulatory care unit, providing a one-stop-shop for allied health, dental, community and child health services.
The redevelopment also allows for much improved patient flow and more efficient connections between clinical departments and administration.
WA Country Health Service’s Marie Norris said that the works deliver on redeveloping the centre and ensuring the community has access to modern healthcare facilities close to home.
“It is great to see the redeveloped Dongara Health Centre completed and open after reaching final commissioning. The new and improved facility will meet the needs of the community now and into the future.
“We’re also providing greater support to aged care clients, with double the number of beds in our residential aged care unit as well as a dedicated palliative care suite.
“Importantly, the facility is now equipped with state-of-the-art virtual care technology that will support our extraordinary on-the-ground staff to deliver even more care close to home.”
The redevelopment was supported by a $780,000 grant from the Commonwealth Government’s Multi-Purpose Service Program as well as a bequest from the Wilton family.
