Jeremy and Jerry prove country connections are stronger
Separated by 16 years and almost 2500 kilometres, WA Country Health Service South West Inland Operations Manager Jeremy Higgins recently discovered that time and distance are no barriers to friendship in the country.
On a recent deployment to the West Kimberley, Jeremy was reunited with former colleague Jerry Morrison, swapping stories and reconfirming their shared commitment to providing excellent healthcare to country communities, no matter where they may be.
Jeremy has strong connections with the Kimberley having previously served as Clinical Nurse Manager Emergency Department, Ambulance and Theatres at Derby Hospital between 2004 and 2007.
Jeremy and Aboriginal Health Worker Jerry worked alongside one another in the Emergency Department with Jeremy relying on Jerry’s extensive local knowledge, expertise and connections.
At the end of his stint, Jeremy hosted a breakfast for the Derby Health Service team to show his appreciation for the care and compassion he said the staff extend to the community of Derby each and every day.
“Jerry and I are both a bit older and greyer now then we once were, but we both still both have the same passion for providing health care to regional communities.
“Jerry is an inspirational person, a great source of guidance.
“His dedication and commitment to the people of the West Kimberley has not changed in all the years since I last saw him.”
