Wheatbelt Cancer Services teams gain eviQ expertise
WA Country Health Service Wheatbelt Cancer Services recently played host to representatives from the Cancer Institute of New South Wales for the team to upskill and learn about the eviQ education platform.
More than 15 cancer services staff from across the region met in Northam and were joined by Cancer Institute’s Erin Downs and Parvin Ataie-Kachoie to refresh existing knowledge, extend their professional education and learn about the eviQ platform to maintain best practice and support patients receiving cancer care.
EviQ is a freely available online platform hosting evidence-based cancer treatment protocols, educational packages and resources written by cancer specialists. EviQ protocols and resources form an important part of the day-to-day care and management of cancer patients.
WA Country Health Service’s Clinical Nurse Consultant – Oncology Coordination Lou Good said it was so valuable to have the teams together to learn from other cancer care experts.
“It was great to have this education opportunity locally in Northam. We had so many staff involved including nurses, doctors, pharmacists, dieticians, and social workers who appreciated the range in sessions, and all took something away from the day.
“The staff found the expertise to be in touch with our regional teams and it was fantastic to have the eviQ representatives present in person.
“It was a brilliant opportunity to learn new things and refresh the many aspects of the eviQ website and education, which will only strengthen our team,” she added.
“It also gave us a great networking opportunity as it brought the whole Wheatbelt Cancer Services team together in one place for the first time.”
