Emergency Medicine Education and Training hub comes to the Goldfields
WA Country Health Service has opened a dedicated Emergency Medicine Education and Training (EMET) hub in the Goldfields.
Opened in August, the hub provides education and training to doctors and other health professionals working in emergency departments and emergency care services.
Fellowship of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine (FACEM) Lead for the EMET Program Dr Stephanie Schlueter said the EMET hubs in each region were designed to support staff to access high quality, professional development opportunities.
“We’re very excited, we know this will help support the delivery of care to our most critically unwell patients,” Dr Schlueter said.
Dr Yen Teoh, who is undertaking the role of FACEM Lead EMET in the Goldfields, said it was an exciting step for the region.
“Staff in the Goldfields will be able to participate in emergency medicine interprofessional education and training to increase their skills and competencies,” she said.
“It’s one more way we’re supporting patients and families across the Goldfields.”
The EMET is funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care and administered through the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine.
