Bunbury Regional Hospital prepares for bushfire season
WA Country Health Service’s Bunbury Regional Hospital has been working closely with the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) to prepare for bushfire season.
The hospital recently participated in bushfire drill simulation alongside teams from St John of God Bunbury Hospital, St John Ambulance WA and the City of Bunbury.
During the drill exercise a communications room was set up at the hospital as well as an Emergency Control Centre at the front of the site.
Bunbury Regional Hospital Director Jeff Calver said ahead of a potentially severe and unpredictable bushfire season, it’s important to be prepared.
“A huge amount of work goes into preparing and carrying out a drill like this to ensure we can get our site ready for the worst-case scenario.
“These drills are routine and important. It gives staff the opportunity to experience the tasks they will need to carry out in a real emergency,” he said.
“Most importantly, it’s just another way we’re keeping our staff and patients safe.
“I’d like to thank our staff who participated in the exercise, and teams from DFES, St John Ambulance WA, St John of God Bunbury Hospital and the City of Bunbury who made the drill possible.”
