Remembering WA’s wartime nurses
In the lead up to Remembrance Day, WA Country Health Service (WACHS) Great Southern staff have paid their respects to the nurses who have served during times of conflict and war.
Executive Director Great Southern Evelyn Quinn and Albany Health Campus A/Coordinator of Nursing and Midwifery Ashley Pannett attended a service hosted by the Albany RSL to lay a wreath for our military nurses.
As far back as WW1, Australian nurses have played a vital role in military service, often working in gruelling circumstances – whether that be in hospitals, ships or near the front lines.
Ms Quinn said it was an honour to attend the RSL Albany Service and pause to recognise not only the nurses who were a part of past conflicts, but those who provide ongoing service to our nation.
“We pay our respects to all nurses involved in war, those who risked their lives to save others – often so far from home,” Evelyn said.
“And to the nurses who continue to serve our country, we say thank you.”
This Remembrance Day – and every day – WA Country Health Service pays respect to the Australia’s military nurses. Thank you for all you do.
