Patient-centred care at the heart of Medical Imaging Technologist’s work
For WA Country Health Service Medical Imaging Technologist Christopher Dransfield, putting patients first is second nature.
Christopher’s warm manner and attention to detail recently earned the praise of a grateful patient, who took to Care Opinion to commend Christopher for his approach.
After landing themselves in Broome Regional Hospital with a serious back injury, the patient said Christopher’s thorough and attentive care made all the difference.
“I owe a great deal to Christopher for his pivotal role in getting me the help I needed,” the patient said.
“He immediately recognised the urgency of my condition and provided care that was crucial to my journey towards surgery.”
Christopher said he was grateful for the compliment but that he shares the commendation with his colleagues.
“The feedback is humbling and heart-warming,” Christopher told us.
“But it was a team effort.
“Everyone’s care journey matters, that’s why I show them it means as much to me, as it does them,” he added.
Having worked at sites across regional WA, Christopher told us that country healthcare provides a different kind of job satisfaction.
“For me, practicing in the country brings a whole new level of fulfilment when compared to metropolitan centres,” he said.
“Improving care pathways for our patients is so rewarding – it’s the reason I get out of bed every day.
“There can be no greater reward or privilege – it’s uplifting and such are the moments of delight we search for in our working life.”
