Medical Imaging Tech Ben dedicated to great care in the Goldfields

WA Country Health Service (WACHS) Medical Imaging Technologist Ben Chalker has his eye on delivering compassionate care to the Goldfields community, one scan at a time.

Kalgoorlie Mum Kirst Smith reached out to us recently, to show her appreciation for the great experience she had with Ben during her daughter’s unexpected trip to Kalgoorlie Regional Hospital.

Ms Smith told us her daughter usually feels quite nervous when attending hospital, but that they were both put at ease after being thoughtfully guided through the imaging process.

“My daughter happily followed Ben’s clear instructions, she wasn’t nervous or apprehensive at all,” Ms Smith said.

“Ben reassured me throughout – he could see I was a mother worried about her daughter.

“He just created a positive experience for the both of us - and even provided radiology pictures to my daughter afterwards.”

Grateful for the feedback, Ben told us that he always ensures care is delivered in the most comfortable way.

“People don't usually come to us when they are healthy, so being able to make their visit as pleasant and as easy as possible is my goal,” Ben said.

“I endeavour to make patients and their relatives feel safe, comfortable and confident that they are getting great care in the Goldfields.”
