WACHS nurses bring specialised emergency care to the bush
WA Country Health Service (WACHS) has supported more country nurses to upskill in emergency nursing and critical care.
Executive Director Nursing and Midwifery Maria Flynn said the professional development opportunity, delivered in conjunction with Sir Charles Gardiner Osborne Park Health Care Group (SCGOPHCG) and Edith Cowan University (ECU), was about advancing country nurses and better supporting regional communities.
“I’m really proud that we’ve been able to support Blessing, Kiara, Shanae, Breanna, Julia, Serena and Heather to gain this qualification,” Ms Flynn said.
“Not only does it provide an opportunity for them to advance their career and skillset, but it brings specialist knowledge back to the bush.”
Kalgoorlie Regional Hospital Registered Nurse Blessing Omorokunwa thanked WA Country Health Service for the opportunity.
“I now have greater confidence in assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care within my scope of practice,” Ms Omorokunwa said.
“My goal is to be a nurse practitioner, providing education and culturally appropriate care for people in regional WA.
“WA Country Health Service is helping me achieve that.”
