Jess Priest nominated as Excellence in Midwifery finalist
Karratha Health Campus Clinical Midwifery Manager Jess Priest’s commitment to Karratha mums is why she’s a finalist in the 2024 WA Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards.
The category of Excellence in Midwifery is resided for those that deliver outstanding continuity of care to pregnant women and people.
Jess is committed to culturally appropriate maternity care.
“Through my career at WA Country Health Service my love for rural and remote nursing and midwifery only continues to grow,” she said.
“This nomination means a lot, as we have been working so hard at Karratha Health Campus Maternity Unit.
Jess said that as country kid, there was no way she wouldn’t work rural or remote.
“I love the sense of community that you experience working in rural locations,” she added
“There is also the element of continuity you get with all your patients working in smaller towns.
“I believe my experiences contribute to my development as a Nurse and Midwife.”
