Transition to Practice supporting grads leap into practice

WA Country Health Service’s (WACHS) Allied Health Transition to Practice (T2P) program is providing a springboard for graduates making the transition to work and live in the bush.

Open to allied health graduates in the first two years of their professional career, the T2P program provided almost 60 graduates with either in-person or virtual early-stage career support in 2023.

Graduates are paired with experienced clinicians, giving them the opportunity to develop their skills with the support of some of regional WA’s most experienced healthcare professionals.

WA Country Health Service Director Allied Health Suzanne Spitz said the T2P program was instrumental in facilitating new graduates’ ability to learn, live and work in their respective regions.   

“Supporting our grads on their entry into the workforce is such a huge part of staff retention and which helps us improve health outcomes in our communities,” Ms Spitz said.

Speech Pathologist Raghavi Prithvi Raj recently completed the Allied Health T2P program and appreciated how well-rounded the support program is.

“When you start a new job, you don’t always know important day-to-day information,” Raghavi said

“The program covered it all.

“What makes WA Country Health Service a great place to work is how supportive of one another everyone is.

“If you’re ever unsure, or need some help, you can always knock on someone’s door,” she added.
