Dr Winfield sees endless opportunities in the South West
For Bunbury Regional Hospital’s Dr Francis Winfield, professional development opportunities and a laid-back lifestyle is what drew him to country WA.
With the goal of working as an Intensive Care Consultant in country communities, WA Country Health Service (WACHS) has supported Dr Winfield to be a part of the WA Intensive Care Training Pathway.
“WACHS has allowed me to develop the clinical skills, and independence needed for my current and future roles,” Dr Winfield said.
“The broad range of critical care experiences I have obtained through working in rural emergency departments, operating theatres and remote clinics have fast tracked my development.”
Dr Winfield said rural training provides experiences and support unlike any other setting.
“Regardless of where you work, you’ll encounter patients and colleagues from rural and remote areas.
“Understanding their healthcare experience and the resources available outside the metropolitan is vital to delivering the best care possible,” he added.
