Next generation of midwives caring for Kimberley mums and bubs
WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is helping to create the next generation of Kimberley midwives through our Paid Student Midwifery Model.
The program, now in its second year, provides registered nurses with the opportunity to complete a fully funded Postgraduate Diploma of Midwifery.
Staff are also supported through flexible working arrangements, access to clinical facilitators and travel to the metropolitan area for study weeks.
Broome Health Campus Director of Nursing Millie Stewart said she was delighted to see Kimberley nurses taking up the opportunity to broaden their skillset.
“We’re incredibly proud of our nurses who are completing the Paid Student Midwifery Model,” she said.
“It’s a great opportunity for them to gain expertise and bring them back to Broome to support local mums and bubs.”
