Midwest Community Nurse Deb supports parents with teenagers
WA Country Health Service (WACHS) Community Health Nurse Deb Muscio is helping Midwest parents build stronger connections with their teenage children.
Through the Positive Parenting Program (Triple P), Deb provides simple and practical strategies to help parents build strong, healthy relationships, confidently manage their children’s behaviour and prevent problems developing.
Deb was recently praised by a grateful parent who took to Care Opinion to express their gratitude for helping to unify family members through Triple P.
“Deb was such an amazing resource and her passion for adolescents and Triple P was evident.
“She was professional, compassionate and funny,” they said.
“She made me feel like I was already doing such an amazing job as a parent, while still helping me see some needs that my child may have that I could help meet.
“I have already implemented some of the suggested strategies and my household is much happier.
“I feel much more confident in my parenting ability.”
Deb said that she was pleased to hear that the strategies were helping to improve a sense of connection between the parent and their teen.
“With support and encouragement, they were able to try out a few strategies which helped to build a stronger parent-teen relationship,” Deb said.
“I am passionate about assisting adolescents to navigate their pathway through life by making healthy choices and improving their health literacy.”
Deb said that developing a strong rapport with participants was key to making an impact with parents.
“The Teen Triple P seminars and resources can help provide that support and encourages parents to support each other.”
