Country health the first to mark 5000 Care Opinion stories

WA Country Health Service (WACHS) is celebrating an impressive milestone – 5000 Care Opinion stories shared.

Care Opinion launched in Western Australia in 2015 and is an independent public platform for patients, consumers, carers and loved ones to share their experiences about hospitals and health services.

WA Country Health Service is the first WA Health Service Provider to reach the record number and is a leader when it comes to receiving and responding to feedback, with WACHS stories totalling almost 30 per cent of all stories on the platform.

Care Opinion stories about WACHS have been viewed more than 2.55 million times and highlight the impact that kindness, compassion and respect can have on the healthcare experience.

Patient Experience and Consumer Engagement (PEaCE) Manager Rosie Keely said Care Opinion is a person-centred way for the community to share their feedback online.

“When patients are in hospital, they’re often focused on getting better so having an option for them to reflect on their experiences at a time that’s suitable is beneficial.

“It also allows staff to review, respond and act on all types of feedback that can help others too.”

Not only does it benefit patients and their loved ones, Rosie said the platform is also a great way for staff to be acknowledged.

“One of the benefits of Care Opinion is that our staff can read about the impact they’ve had, and it’s nice to be able to share the feedback more widely as well.”

While there are many positive stories, here are a just few highlights from the past 12-months:

  • Patient-centred care at the heart of Medical Imaging Technologist’s work
  • Esperance Ambulatory Services have A-team status in the community
  • Albany podiatrists go above and beyond
  • Busselton Health Campus brings nothing but positivity
