Bunbury Midwifery Group Practice praised
New Bunbury mum Sally recently shared her feedback on giving birth with the local Midwifery Group Practice (MGP).
“I honestly cannot speak highly enough of this model of care,” she said.
“My entire pregnancy I felt so cared for, my feelings were always validated, and my voice was always heard with my wishes constantly put at the forefront of every decision.
“Anyone thinking of using the MGP program need not think twice about it.”
Midwifery Group Practices place an emphasis on expectant mothers building a relationship with their midwifery team. In Bunbury women receiving care under this model are cared for by the same team from approximately 16 weeks antenatally, throughout the labour and the birth period, and to four weeks postnatal.
This aspect of MGP care was celebrated by Sally.
“It was so lovely to go into the birth knowing that the people beside me knew both me and my pregnancy journey and my wishes for the birth,” she commented.
“Being our third child, my husband and I felt we somewhat knew what to expect, yet we were absolutely blown away with just how calm, controlled and dare I say enjoyable the whole experience was.”
WA Country Health Service Acting Executive Director South West Jeff Calver was pleased with the sterling feedback from the new mum.
“The Bunbury MGP has been running since 2013 and has proven popular with the community,” he said.
“This feedback from Sally highlights the exceptional and meaningful work country midwives perform every single day, and we wish this family well going forward as they watch their children grow up in the South West.”
