Patient sings praises of Broome maternity team
A new mum recently shared her experience giving birth with the support of WA Country Health Service’s midwifery, obstetrics and gynaecology teams in Broome.
The patient – who had previously given birth at Broome Health Campus - said she was particularly happy to see the maternity ward was now home to two new birthing suites and a new birthing bath.
“We had last birthed during Covid and the birth suites were being renovated, so it was amazing to see the difference,” the new mum said.
The birth went smoothly under the care of Broome’s midwifery, obstetrics, and gynaecology teams and just 12 hours later, new mum and bub were able to go home.
“I just wanted to say how grateful I am to be able to live in country WA so far away from metro services and still have an incredible experience,” she said.
“I wanted to let the team know how amazing they are and how lucky we are to have amazing staff and facilities in Broome.”
Acting Executive Director WA Country Health Service Kimberley James Sherriff celebrated the feedback.
“Staff at Broome Regional Hospital work extremely hard to provide new mums and their families with a positive birth experience,” he said.
“Receiving feedback like this means a lot to all of us and we congratulate this family on the birth of the Kimberley’s newest bub.”
