WA Country Health Service recognised as exceptional emergency services volunteer employer
WA Country Health Service has been recognised as a standout employer of emergency services volunteers at the Volunteer Employer Recognition Awards (VERA).
Run by the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES), the VERAs recognise businesses that provide flexible work arrangements to enable their staff to respond to emergencies during work hours. Across Western Australia more than 95 percent of emergency services personnel are volunteers.
A total of 82 businesses and organisations from across the State were celebrated at the 2024 VERA ceremony for their support of emergency services volunteers over the last year.
Plantagenet Cranbrook Health Service’s Sam Reid and Kathleen Western attended the VERAs on behalf of WA Country Health Service and accepted the award from DFES Commissioner Darren Klemm and Minister for Emergency Services Stephen Dawson MLC.
Executive Director Great Southern Evelyn Quinn said she was thrilled to see WA Country Health Service’s efforts to support volunteer employees being recognised.
“I know the positive impacts healthcare workers make in our communities doesn’t end when the scrubs come off.
“That’s why we are supportive of employees volunteering at worthy organisations like the Bush Fire Brigade or State Emergency Service – just to name a few.
“I am so proud of the contributions WA Country Health Service employees make to the health and wellbeing of our communities – both within our hospitals, health centres, and clinics, as well as in our communities during emergencies,” she said.
WA Country Health Service is a multiple-time honouree at the Volunteer Employer Recognition Awards.
