Contractor appointed for Broome Renal Hostel
The tender to design the new Broome Renal Hostel has been awarded to EMCO Building under an Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) procurement process.
The hostel is set to offer long-term accommodation options for patients with advanced kidney disease.
Once complete, the facility will provide accommodation for up to 20 renal patients and carers requiring dialysis, support services or education and training.
The new hostel is focused on providing a safe, welcoming and culturally appropriate space to support the delivery of comprehensive renal services for patients.
Co-located with other community developments within the Broome Health and Wellbeing Campus, the new facility further bolsters renal services in the Kimberley and builds on recently announced renal advancements in Fitzroy Crossing and Halls Creek.
Under the ECI process, EMCO Building will participate in the design phase and help to develop a scope of works with project teams, leveraging their expertise in the approach to construction of the facility, development of the program and the engagement of local subcontractors.
The Broome Renal Hostel project includes a $7.4 million contribution from the Australian Government Health and Hospital Fund (HHF), Bringing Renal Dialysis and Services Closer to Home program.
