"We are most fortunate" - a letter of thanks to the Narrogin TeleChemotherapy team

A touching letter from a long-term patient has brought well-deserved praise to the dedicated team at the Narrogin Health Service TeleChemotherapy unit.
The patient, who’s been receiving treatment for the past five years, shared their feedback for the exceptional care, professionalism and kindness they’ve received from the team.
Monthly visits to the unit gave the patient a deep appreciation for the team’s compassionate, coordinated approach.
“I visit monthly, and I’m hugely impressed with the team’s efficiency as well as the compassionate care for patients," the patient said.
“The treatment team and each and every staff member do more than their duty – it’s so commendable.”
At the heart of the service is a team that works with respect and collaboration. Nurses Lara, Claire and Marnie received a special mention for their seamless teamwork.
“They diagnostically support appointments, blood tests, treatment orders and video conferencing – plus whatever else is required,” the patient said.
Clinical Nurse Lara reflected on what this recognition means during Patient Experience Week.
“We support our patients as best we can during this difficult time in their lives,” Lara said.
“This feedback makes us feel like we’ve contributed to them feeling well supported - it’s an honour to walk with them in this journey.”
Registered Nurse Claire echoed this sentiment, reflecting on the emotional depth and teamwork involved in oncology nursing.
“We work in such a special area of nursing, and hearing that we’ve made a difference in someone’s cancer journey, reminds us of not only why we do our job, but the difference we can make as a team,” she said.
“As Maya Angelou once said, ‘they may forget your name, but they will never forget how you made them feel.’”
The team’s patient-centred ethos extends well beyond the treatment room with praise for the admin team, in particular Clerk Angela, whose support helps make the whole experience smoother.
Clinical Nurse Filipa was also mentioned for her comforting and cheery nature. She said that being recognised for the work done across the broader team was incredibly meaningful.
“It’s a wonderful feeling for your hard work to be acknowledged by clients and team members,” Filipa said.
“I believe we provide a caring environment and in my work with cancer support our focus is on the client, their families and support systems.
“I feel blessed to work with such great people who are all striving to make our clients feel valued.”
As we celebrate Patient Experience Week, this letter is a powerful reminder of what happens when healthcare is guided by communication and teamwork - as the patient so eloquently put it:
“We’re most fortunate indeed.”
