Colourful bed covers brighten up Broome Health Campus

The paediatric ward at WA Country Health Service’s Broome Health Campus is brighter thanks to handmade blankets donated by Registered Nurse Jill Dickson and the local Lions Club.
Jill worked together with the Lions Club of Broome to source colourful, patterned fabric and with the help of Lions member, Joy, the pair handmade 24 new bed covers for the ward.
Executive Director Lisa Smith said the new bed covers are a welcome addition to the hospital.
“We’re always looking for new ways we can make our spaces more child friendly and it’s great that Jill found a way to enhance the hospital environment for Broome kids.
“I’d like to thank the Lions Club of Broome and Jill for their work on this outstanding initiative.”
The Lions Club of Broome President Jo Balding said they were proud to donate to such a creative and worthwhile project.
“We’ve had a long association with the hospital and we’re very pleased to provide this donation of colourful bed covers, which were made specifically for the children's ward.
“This will become one of our regular donations along with the new baby bundles that are donated yearly to the paediatric ward,” she added.
The Lions Club of Broome will continue the project in the future including replacing and repairing the covers as needed.
