Carnarvon Health Campus team are a shoulder to lean on

The team at WA Country Health Service’s Carnarvon Health Campus recently received feedback from a patient who unexpectedly required care while on holiday. 

Pauline and her husband were travelling from their hometown of Geraldton to Dampier when she suddenly experienced severe pain.

Concerned by the intensity of her symptoms, she presented to the emergency department, where she had various tests to rule out any serious conditions. 

Here, she said she received exceptional treatment and was promptly assessed by the team. 

“I presented to Carnarvon with indigestion and severe pain in my back near my right shoulder blade - I was worried I was having a heart attack,” she said.

“All the staff were very professional and understanding of my situation.” 

She also acknowledged how attentive they were in ensuring she felt supported and reassured - offering her appreciation to the entire team.

“They explained to me what they were doing and why, which was comforting.

“It made me feel comfortable knowing I was receiving the care I required,” she said. 

“I am very grateful for their professional and friendly care. 

“I would like to offer my greatest appreciation and thanks to all the doctors, nurses, radiologist and staff for the treatment and care I received.”

For District Director Michael Barry, hearing the positive feedback about the team was pleasing. 

“I am incredibly proud of the team and the work they do each and every day,” he said. 

“They provide exceptional care to the community, and it’s their teamwork and support which allows them to do this so well.”
