New Geraldton Health Campus Emergency Department now open

The new Emergency Department at Geraldton Health Campus has opened its doors to patients, a significant milestone in the transition to the newly completed redevelopment of the hospital.

Following the recent announcement that the $192 million redevelopment had reached practical completion, commissioning leads from WA Country Health Service have been working to ensure the new treatment spaces are ready to receive patients.

Community Mental Health will be transitioned into the new part of the hospital in the coming week, with services including the new Intensive Care Unit, High Dependency Unit, Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit and Adult Mental Health Inpatient Unit set to move across to their new clinical spaces from mid-September.

The hospital commissioning team has also been busy welcoming more than 120 new staff with appointments to an additional 50 positions being finalised in the coming weeks.Works are continuing the new radiation oncology unit and upgrades to renal dialysis treatment spaces, providing Midwest patients with greater access to lifesaving care closer to home.

Geraldton Health Campus' redevelopment forms part of the State Government's record $5.5 billion investment in health infrastructure, the largest hospital building program in Western Australia's history.

Delivery of the radiation oncology unit includes a $12.6 million contribution from the Commonwealth Government, with completion expected next year.
