South West graduate programs

The South West offers amazing opportunities for graduate nurses and midwives across the many hospitals and health services in the region.

Opportunities are available at sites in Bunbury, Busselton, Bridgetown, Collie, Harvey, Bridgetown, Nannup, Boyup Brook, Warren, Pemberton and Margaret River. 

Graduate nurses will develop a broad range of skills in managing general medical and surgical, paediatric and aged care patients and acute emergency care.  For those with a keen interest in developing skills in mental health or community health, there are dedicated programs in these specialities. 

Graduate midwives can work in the inpatient setting at Bunbury or Busselton or in a Midwifery Group Practice in Bunbury, Collie or Bridgetown.

About the South West 

Bunbury is a booming town located on the coast 150 km south of Perth with a population is in excess of 50,000. It is an ideal location, with easy access to the popular tourist areas of the South West, coupled with a vibrant cosmopolitan atmosphere. Water-based activities including dolphin watching, boating and fishing, along with many sporting clubs and cultural activities provide ample opportunity for recreation.

Busselton is located on the coast approximately 50 km south of Bunbury. Busselton is the second largest town in the South West region and has easy access to the popular areas of Margaret River and Dunsborough. It has a resident population of 25,000, which swells in the summer due to an influx of tourists. Wineries, coastal features, beaches and walking trails provide ample opportunities for recreation.

Collie is located 50 km north east of Bunbury and lies in the Collie River Valley with a population of about 9,000. Popular recreation activities include camping and bushwalking in nearby forests, and there are many sporting groups within the town. Easy access to the dynamic South West regional centre of Bunbury is a bonus.

Bridgetown is located 95 km south east of Bunbury, on the banks of the Blackwood River, with a population of 4,000. A popular tourist and farming region, the area has many attractions and opportunities for recreation including bushwalking, camping, canoeing and sporting groups.

Manjimup is the regional centre for the Warren Blackwood Shire and is located 124 km south east of Bunbury in the heart of tall timber country. The population of Manjimup is around 4,500. Bushwalking and camping are popular recreation activities, and the town is in easy reach of the varied environmental attractions of the South West region, including beaches, forests and wineries.
