WA Country Health Service proud of country nurses and midwives
The WA Country Health Service celebrates midwives and nurses, and the remarkable role they play in advancing the health and wellbeing of country communities during this commemorative week.
The International Day of Midwife is today, 5 May, with the theme Midwives with women: celebrate, demonstrate, mobilise, unite – our time is now.
Nurses : A voice to lead - nursing the world to health is the theme for International Nurses Day on Tuesday 12 May.
Fittingly, this year also marks the International Year of the Nurse and Midwife in honour of the 200th anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale. It presents yet another unique opportunity to thank this vital workforce for stepping up to new challenges in recent times.
Acting Executive Director Nursing and Midwifery Services Steph Barrett said the week was a special time to acknowledge the nurses and midwives who are fundamental to achieving universal health care.
“I thank all our WACHS nurses and midwives for continually stepping up to new challenges and making a real difference in our country communities.”
Now more than ever, it is important to continue to commemorate and acknowledge the work of our entire nursing and midwifery cohort.
WACHS congratulates all nine individuals and four teams, representing a diverse range of services across every region of WA, for being named finalists in the prestigious 2020 WA Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards.
