Taking COVID-19 vaccination clinics to remote Aboriginal communities
WA Country Health Service (WACHS) has teamed up with partner organisations to run a series of COVID-19 vaccination clinics on the Dampier Peninsula.
In collaboration with the Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Service, Royal Flying Doctor Service and local government authorities, our clinicians recently flew into remote Aboriginal communities including Djarindjin, Lombadina and Ardyaloon.
COVID-19 community vaccination clinics make it easier for residents in the regions to access vaccines closer to home.
Among those vaccinated at our busy Lombadina Clinic were CoCo and her mum, Mary, from Chile Creek. Our teams were also pleased to meet and administer the vaccine to Djarindjin resident JJ Shadforth and Lombadina local Tony.
All Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people 16 years and over are eligible to receive a vaccination.
