New and improved Dongara Residential Aged Care facilities welcome patients
Stage two of WA Country Health Service’s (WACHS) $9.86 million redevelopment of Dongara Health Service is now complete.
This phase of the project has seen the existing residential aged care facility – known locally as Blake House – increase capacity from six to 12 beds.
A dedicated palliative care suite has also been established in line with WACHS’ commitment to ensuring that end-of-life and palliative care is centered on the individual needs of the person, their family or carer.
WACHS Midwest Acting Regional Director Ron Wynn said the redeveloped facilities will benefit aged care residents by delivering patient-centred care in a facility that is fit-for-purpose for years to come.
“We’re pleased to see that the new and improved Blake House refurbishments are now complete, and we know the Dongara community will be too.
“We are committed to ensuring that end-of-life care is centered on the individual needs of the patient and their loved ones, and the new dedicated palliative care suite at Dongara Health Service ensures this continues.
“The $9.86 million improvements will deliver world-class healthcare close to home and I’d like to extend a special thanks to the Shire of Irwin for their continued support in delivering this project.”
This latest milestone follows the construction of a new ambulatory care unit at Dongara Health Service as well as upgrades to existing ambulatory care facilities, patient flow improvements, new consult rooms, a child health room, staff amenities and parking.
Stage three of the redevelopment is due to commence in late 2022.
