Country interns among the best in the Rural Health Excellence Awards
Passion and dedication have seen three of WA Country Health Service’s (WACHS) Junior Doctors shortlisted in the WA Rural Health Excellence Awards for 2023.
Dr Josaphine Sadler, Dr Lucy Irvine and Dr Angela Park have each been named finalists for the Intern of the Year award, thanks to their outstanding commitment during their year-long internships in 2022.
Dr Sadler spent her year at Albany Health Campus where her peers remarked that “nothing is too much trouble for Dr Sadler, everything she does is always with a smile and generosity of spirit.”
Among her accolades, Dr Sadler continues to contribute significantly to the Junior Medical Officers of the Great Southern Committee in her role as Advocacy Officer in 2022 and now President.
On the other side of the state, Dr Park spent her intern year at Broome Health Campus.
Having moved to Derby as a nurse, Dr Park fell in love with the diverse population of the Kimberley and quickly began to pursue a medical career as a doctor.
Currently she sits as co-chair for the Junior Medical Officers of the Kimberley Society where she advocates for her future and fellow peers.
Dr Lucy Irvine, located in the sunny South West’s Bunbury Regional Hospital, has seen her passion for rural health only grow stronger with time.
She is described by her peers as “hardworking, approachable, enthusiastic and a highly competent clinician who is always motivated to provide up-to-date and patient-centred care.”
As she continues her career in Bunbury, Dr Irvine is the current president of the Bunbury Doctor’s in Training Society and was the intern representative in 2022.
Congratulations to Dr Sadler, Dr Park and Dr Irvine for everything you do for our country communities, and all the 2023 awards finalists.
