Northam Hospital Auxiliary supports Wheatbelt patients
The community spirit of the Northam Hospital Auxiliary has once again been brought into focus with a $15,000 donation made to the hospital.
The funds, raised by Auxiliary members who volunteer their time by working in the hospital kiosk, will be put towards the refurbishment of the hospital’s new discharge lounge.
Northam Hospital Auxiliary’s President, Rae Knight, was pleased to hand over the cheque to WA Country Health Service Wheatbelt Regional Director Rachele Ferrari this month.
“This generous donation is a wonderful show of community support,” Ms Ferrari said.
“Refurbishing the lounge will mean patients awaiting discharge will have a comfortable and welcoming space to wait while also freeing up inpatient beds for incoming patients.
“I want to thank the Auxiliary for this donation and all the work they do at the kiosk and providing extraordinary emotional support to patients to make their hospital experience positive.”
Northam Hospital Operations Manager Trenton Greive echoed these sentiments.
“The Northam Hospital Auxiliary volunteers go above and beyond for our hospital and we are grateful for everything they do in providing a kiosk stocked with healthy and nutritious food for staff, visitors and patients,” he said.
All funds raised by the Auxiliary go toward the purchase of hospital equipment and projects such as the discharge lounge - due for completion at the end of March.
The hospital’s Auxiliary kiosk is run by a team of volunteers and Ms Knight encourages anyone interested in joining, to contact her on 0439 972607.
