First surgery list completed at new Collie Health Service operating theatre complex
The brand-new $14.7 million Collie Health Service operating theatre complex has welcomed its first patient since the redevelopment reached completion.
69-year-old Gary Keep was the first patient to undergo a procedure at the new facility.
Upon his arrival, Mr Keep was met by two lightbox art installations at the entrance of the theatre corridor displaying an illuminating blue and green feature.
He was then taken through to the new pre-surgery area and met by staff who got him prepped.
He said he was excited to be the first patient through the theatre complex and highly rated his experience.
“I was very impressed with the new theatre complex,” he said.
“The place is fantastic, as were the staff.”
“It’s amazing to have something like this in Collie.”
After a few hours in recovery, Gary was ready to go home and was discharged the same afternoon.
WA Country Health Service’s Jeremy Higgins said it was exciting to welcome patients to the state-of-the-art theatre and be able to deliver procedures like Gary’s close to home.
“The first surgery list went smoothly,” Mr Higgins said.
“All of our medical staff are impressed with the quality of the complex.
“The new operating theatre features state-of-the-art technology and amenities and has already significantly enhanced the experience of patients like Gary.”
