New Broome birthing suites completed and welcoming patients
Broome Health Campus is now home to two redeveloped birthing suites and a new birthing bath following a $1.47 million investment.
The suites underwent a complete refurbishment and now include new ensuites, more contemporary layouts and upgraded amenities and private courtyards.
Since becoming operational in February, the new suites have supported more than 100 families to welcome Broome babies.
WA Country Health Service’s Rex O’Rourke said the new suites provided Broome women and their families access to modern, high-quality healthcare facilities close to home.
“Our new, state-of-the-art birthing suites - combined with the hospital’s incredible staff - are providing expectant families with the very best birthing experience and have already supported more than 100 women and their families to welcome Broome babies,” he said.
“As well as the new suites, local artwork that is reflective of motherhood and the rich Kimberley environment has been installed to help create a culturally welcoming and safe environment.”
The facility also features a new and improved workstation for staff.
Local artwork created by Yawaru artists has been installed and features two colour themes to reflect the rich culture of the Kimberley.
The artworks signify the artists’ personal stories of motherhood and include saltwater roebuck bay blues, representing the West Kimberley and earthy reds and browns representing Pindan country and the East Kimberley.
