Nursing Awards finalist passionate about care on country
The Goldfields will again be represented in the annual WA Nursing and Midwifery Excellence Awards with WA Country Health Service Enrolled Nurse Jada Hansen named among this year’s finalists.
Nominated in the Graduate of the Year category, Ms Hansen, who is based at Kalgoorlie Health Campus, returned home following completion of her studies in Perth to work with her community.
Ms Hansen said it was important her chosen career allowed her to deliver care close to home.
“I really feel like nursing is a community, you make a connection with almost everyone you meet, and I feel like I’m helping out my people as well,” Ms Hansen said.
“I love being on country and close to my community.”
WA Country Health Service Executive Director Goldfields Peter Tredinnick said Ms Hansen is a great example of the next generation of up-and-coming country nurses.
“Jada is passionate about working with her patients, families and colleagues to deliver the best possible outcomes,” Mr Tredinnick said.
“Jada is the kind of nurse any hospital would be lucky to have.
“We’re extremely proud to have her as part of our team in Kalgoorlie.”
The Graduate of the Year award recognises the outstanding graduate nurse or midwife who has demonstrated exceptional commitment to ensuring they deliver person centred care within their scope of practice. The nominee is recognised as a role model and is highly regarded by supervisors and peers.
Winners will be announced at a gala ball on 6 October.
