Regan reflects on her 10-year-strong career in Kalgoorlie
Regan Holmes hadn’t thought about a career in health but after starting a casual position with WA Country Health Service (WACHS) 10 years ago, she hasn’t looked back.
Now working as the Acting Supply Manager at Kalgoorlie Health Campus, Regan said the beauty of her role is the variation each day brings.
“My job is aimed at purchasing goods for the Goldfields Region. Each day is different, which I like, and it keeps me busy.
“I started as a casual worker in admin at the Patient Assisted Travel Scheme (PATS) office. From there, I did a few staff leave covers as a ward clerk, then moved into the Supply Department seven years ago and have worked my way up,” she added.
While she might work in purchasing and supply, she’s also had some memorable moments with patients.
“In the Supply Department we look after the home oxygen clients and for a while we’d deliver oxygen. There was a special lady that we delivered to, and she was so lovely, gave us life advice, showed us around her garden and she reminded me so much of my late Nana, so I found that special.” She said.
Originally from New Zealand, Regan moved to Kalgoorlie in 2013 and has sung her praises for both the community and hospital teams.
“I live in Kalgoorlie and enjoy the community. I have some amazing friends that I get to spend time with outside of work too.
“The community here is so special, and I would like to say a huge thank you to my colleagues who make each day different, fun, and who are always willing to help each other, which makes it enjoyable to come to work,” she added.
